The following is only a brief indication of planned major health activities:
Construction of 6 health posts and one drug store
Construction of app 4000 pit latrines
Increase of the number of functional outreach sites to 55
Training of primary health workers (PHW), community health agents (CHA) traditional birth attendants (TBA), contraception distribution agents (CBD), health professionals and community leaders. Focus on the need to train both men and women in some health areas
A brief indication of planned major agriculture activities:
Construction of one small-scale irrigation scheme with a capacity to irrigate 100 ha.
Completion of the Megenagna irrigation scheme started during phase 2.
Environmental protection works including a number of biological and physical conservation measures
Agricultural extension suitable for dry land, mid land and high land areas and including integrated pest management, promotion of drought resistant plants and promotion of improved storage
Institutional development incl. community leadership training. Activities around saving and credit and home economics.
A brief indication of planned major education activities:
Construction of 5 new ABE centres and improvement of 9 existing ABECs. ABE teachers and primary school teachers trained. Textbooks printed and distributed.
4 second cycle primary schools upgraded and one expanded.
Workshops, training and other awareness raising activities regarding children's needs and rights.
Strengthening of the active participation of children in project activities.
Training at community level, woreda and zonal educational offices.
Protection against HIV/AIDS for children and adults. SC-DK and ERCS will co-operate on increased prevention and protection against AIDS. A number of activities are planned including the establishment of AIDS committees, anti-AIDS school clubs, information and communication activities and condom distribution. Plans will be developed and adjusted in close cooperation with the planning of the zone.
Non-farm income development. Both EECMY/LWF and SC-DK will look into possibilities for the support of non-farm employment.
