Nearly 9 million children die every year before the age of five – that is nearly one child every three seconds. This report is published to coincide with the launch of our global campaign on newborn and child survival. Our objective for this campaign is clear: to help get the world on track to achieve MDG 4 by bringing about a substantial reduction in the preventable deaths of young children.
